Large-Scale Industrial CarboREN Plant
A large-scale SunCoal Industries CarboREN® plant can serve as an international energy supplier. The goal of such a plant is to produce highly refined biofuel from affordable biomass. The plant could ship, for example, biocoal pellets with an energy density of >3.7 MWh/m³ for co-firing in a European coal-firing plant (the energy-density of wood chips is only approximately 1.5 MWh/m³). Also, no additional customization of the existing power plant is necessary when using biocoal. As an alternative, the biocoal can be further refined on site, to syngas or to biomass-to-liquid (BtL)-fuel.
